The Confession of John mcOwen Concerninge the Death of Bryan Boy Magee, before vs this 3d of Aprill 1653
Who being demanded whether hee knewe Bryan boy Magee, saith that hee did, not neither did hee see him the said Bryan killed but heard that there was three men killed in the Irish quarter and being then a Souldier in Capten McCulloughs Company was that day vpon the Guard att the west port of Carrickfergus, & beinge afterwards demanded whether hee sawe him the said Bryan or any of those three that were kild run vp towards the house of Thomas Gormally: saith that hee did not, & being further asked whether hee saw the said Bryan Magee after hee was slaine, answered that hee did, about eleuen or twelue dayes after afterwards beinge demanded whether he sawe him after hee was slaine saith that hee did aboute two or three dayes after, & afterwards saith that hee saw his Corps the same night after he was releiued of the Guard: & being alsoe demanded whether hee the said John McOwen mett the said Bryan Magee when hee was flyinge & strike him with a Crabtree Cudgell, as is sworne against him, saith hee did not, yett notwithstanding: afterwards Confesseth that hee did strike the said Bryan Magee ouer the shoulders with a Gunstick as hee passed by the Guard,
