<(1)> The Examination of Aney Ny Gill: of Redbay in the County of Antrym Spincer taken before vs at Carrickfergus the 9th of Aprill 1653
Who being sworne and Examined before vs vpon her Oath, sayth that in or aboute the first Sunday of January 1641, she with many others to the number of tenn persons bigg & Litle were in the house of Euer Magee in the towne of Garrey Spinell in the Island Magee, when as a greate number of people Came into the said house, with swords & picks &c., & one Gunn aboute supper tyme in the night, & did not onely, slash, wound & hurte the said Euer Magee, but with the said Gun discharging the shott did shute the said Euer Magee through the Neck, soe that he died and afterward they kild the said, Euer Magees wiff, & other seaven in the said house that night, and plundered all the goods, and other vttillities that was therein, and left none in the said house a life but this Examinante to her knowledge and the Cause of this Examinantes knowledg hereof, is that when the persons aforesaid Came in with weapons as aforesaid she knew not any of them being in a fright, & amasement behind the said Euer Magee, when <John Marshal Rob: Ladder younger> he was soe slasht, Cutt Magled, & shott; but one John: Marshall and Younge, Robt: Lader then a youth) & she further deposeth that the bollett that was shott into the said Euer Magee his Neck went thorow her neck allsoe the signe whereof is to be seene as yett, soe that she was alsoe left for dead. And by the locks of her head pulled or trayeld from the said Euer his bed towards the doore by the said John Marshall, who Cutt away her Girdle from aboute her & tooke it with him, And this being done, the said persons wente forth, att one doore and this Examinante att the other doore, And she escaped with her life into the Rocks and Clifts of the said Ile Magee by the shore syd, And there Continued that night, the day following and the second night wente away from thence and more sayth nott:
