The examinacion of Margarett ni Neill wife to Hugh Magee taken at Lisnegaruy 21 Aprill 1653
Saith that about a fortnight before Candlemas James Johnson of Ballydauy came to this Examinants house in the parish said Towne of Ballidauy & took this Examinant her husband & a nephew <A> of her husbands to Bangor pretending to send her husband with some direccions to the Ards And there left them in the Constables house & departed from thence suddenly & that the same night as she was credibly informed there was threescore persons killed, & the next morning after the said murder was comitted one Andrew Hamilton came next morneing rideing oner the horse of your Petitioners husband, this examinants cause of knowledge is that her husband being then in the hands of the said Constable saw the said Hamilton rideing on his horse into Bangor & told this Examinant he saw the said Andrew rideing on his horse, this Andrew Liued then at Brians Burne And she heard that there were murdered at that time Donell O Gilmore & his sonne his wife & his sonnes wife wife Gilduffe O Gilmore Turlagh O Gilmore & many <B> more And she heard there was present at the murder the said James Johnson & his sonne James of Ballidauy John Crawford of Crawfords Burne Abraham Adam of Drumgall Andrew Hamilton McErullGilla & others & she farther saith that there was none killed vntill And: Hamilton came & that vntill he came there was onely a gathering of the people togeather & that as soon as the said Andrew came to the said Ballidauy he discharged a shott & presently after the said shott was discharged the said murders was were presently comitted &
