The Examinacion of James Morrison alias Morrice of Carrickfergus Sadler aged 22 yeares or thereabouts being examined saith
That in the begining of the Rebellion in this Nation hee inlisted himselfe in the Troope Commaunded by Capten William Lindsey who then quartered in the Towne of Antrym, & within two or three dayes after Marched to Downeddderie bridge which is about one Mile distant from Templepatrick where they remayned for the tyme of one weeke or thereabouts dureing which tyme this Examinate hath been sometymes att Templepatrick aforesaid. And being demaunded whether hee heard or did know of the Killing of any of the Irish=people inhabitting in those parts Answereth: that hee knoweth not whether hee did or noe. And being demaunded whether hee did know Roger Gordon: saith that there were two of the Gordons in the said Troope; but theire names hee knoweth not. And being demaunded whether hee was euer Commaunded on service with either of the said Gordons, hee saith that hee doth not remember that hee was. And being further demaunded: whether hee doth know Alexander Mackewen of Cloghanduffe. hee saith hee doth not but saith that there are many of that Name in those parts. And being further demaunded whether he the said James Morrison alias Morrice hadd been att the house of Alexander Mackewen aforesaid or whether hee did know of any of the Troope hee was in did att any tyme take from Cloghanduffe aforesaid a workeing=Gelding belonging to the said Alexander Mackewen, or of any of the said Troope that did kill a Man & a woman in Alexander Mackewens house aforesaid: hee saith hee doth not. And further hee cannott say./
