Hugh Jones Carpenter his examinacion 23 ffeb: 1652 taken vpon oath
<Lieut: Owen oge mc Donell Neale Roe mc Cormack Brian mc Art mulcrene the murderers There was slaine by them mr Blith minister mr Clement Cleuer ffran: Spark Robert Gurly William Delap Rich: Houghton William Osier> Who being an Inhabitant in Dungannon when the Rebellion began, saith that about twenty dayes after Captain Randall mc Donnell (who is dead) Lieut Owen Oge mc Donnell, Neale Roe mc Cormack, & Brian mc Art Mulcreene, & seuerall others of the Irish party took out of the said towne, mr Blyth the Minister, mr Clement Cleuer, Francis Sparke, Robert Gurly, Wiliam Delapp, Richard [ ] Houghton, William Osyer, & seuerall other English Inhabitant{s} thereabouts & gaue out that they should be conveyed to Dundalk & about a mile from the Towne vpon the Highway towards Charlemount (at Gortmarran), all the said English men were murdered by the said Irish, & the woemen stript, & being demanded if any of the said woemen present there, be liueing, saith, William Delapps wife is liueing at Drogheda being now wife to ffrancis Jackson there: And he further saith that there was fifty seuen English men kild shortly after neere Charlemount in <B> one place neere the high way betwixt Charlemount & Dungannon which were Inhabitants <Shane o neille actor> in & about Ardmagh & Loughgall, & this examinant saw their Corps & reckoned them that next day, after, which Murder (he was informed) was done by Shane O Neille & his men then in Charlemoun{t} vnder Sir Phill: O Neille, who was also present in Charlemount, at that time (as Captaine Perkins informed this examinant) when they to sent out to be kild, & he saith mr Stanway & other Gent: were then murdered amongst them; And he further saith that he being kept alyve to make a drawbridge at Dungannon, & to doe other work for them the day after Mr Blithe & the rest were kild, took the more boldness to acquaint Sir Phill: O Neille therewith, who seemed to be sorry for it, & mr Patt: Moder O Donnelly & diuers others being then present, he heard the said Patt: say he wished all the Shoemakers, Sadlers, & Rascalls of the English Nation

in the same cast murdered as those of Dungannon were, & shortly after he hauing one mr Hugh Allen Prisoner with him at Castle Cawfield the said p atrick m odder sent him away towards Toome with one <Patt: Duffes Loghran actor C> Patt: Duffe o Loghran, & others to conuey him & that hee was murdered within a mile of the said Castle Cawfield, as this examinant was then informed.
