<symbol> Who being duely sworne and examined deposeth and sayth That he this Examinat being at Mountjoy a guarisoned forte the beginning of the Rebellion in Ireland was the 23d of 8ber 1641 abroad with his fowleing peece, And vpon his returne home he heard it credibly reported that Turlogh Groome ô Quin and Phelomy Keygh ô Neile pretended that there were certaine cowes stollen and that the sayd cowes were tracked into the sayd Mountjoy, And that vnder that pretence they the sayd Turlogh Groome O Quin and Phe l e my K eygh O Neile with diverse others to the number of 20 or 30 or thereabout seized vpon a serjeant that then commaunded the sayd Castle, in Cheife, he the sayd Serjeant makeing answere that if they suspected any stollen goodes to be there they might search every place, wherevpon the sayd Turlogh [Gryem? ] Groom ô Quin with the rest entered into the sayd Castle and kept possession thereof, And this deponent the rather beleeveth the sayd report to be true for that immediately after the sayd examinats returning ho{m}e he found it to be too true that the sayd Turlogh Gro Groom ô Quin was possessed of the sayd Castle and Commaunded the rebells there as Governor thereof for aboue a quarter of a yeare after vizt vnto the beginninge of the seidge of Droghedah.
