The examinacion of John Greenehill alias { }ell of the parish of Mevagh, Barrony of Killm{acre}nnan and County of donnegall husbandman age{d} fortty yeers or thereabouts taken before vs the second day of october 1652
The said deponent being duely sworne on the day aforesaid deposeth {&} saith as followeth vizt. that in or about the Moneth of ffebur{} 1641 this deponent being at Mr Robert Akins house at Clonds{ } in the County aforesaid, there came thither Collonell Mullm{ } mc Swine, Manus mc Knogher, Doltagh mc Garvey Dannell mc Ilbreedy Neill o Donnell and Bryan reagh offarry, And he sayth that the said Manus mc Knogher Doltagh mc Garvy Donnell {mc}<A> Ilbredy Neill o Donnell and Bryan reagh oferry as they of{t} confessed in this deponents heareing stayed in the said Mr Ak{in} house) tooke forth the said Mr Robert Akin and his brothers Joh{n} Akins, Mark Akin, and Robert Buchanan his servant and { } them to the said Mr Akins barne neere his house, where they, to { } they said, hanged the sd Mark Akin, and the said Collonell mc Sw{ } comeing thither after them and finding the said mark Ak{in} hanged did (as they said) threaten the said Manus mc Knogher {&} the rest of his Confederats for hanging the said Mark, an{d} therevpon the said Collonell mc Swine drew out his sworde a{nd}<did> cut the roape where with they hanged the said Marke Ak{in} soe that he fell downe alue beging his life againe w{ } vpon the said Manus mc Knogher and the rest of the said partyes did, as they said, thrust the said Collonell mcSwine {out} of the dooers locking the doore vpon and caleing him cowardly base fellow for not joyneing with them in executeing and murthering the said Mark Akin and hi{s} sonns and servant whome they all murthered, as they als{o} tould this deponent that very night and the said Collonell mc Swine therevpon fell a weepeing without doors for killing Sco hot Scotchmen as they all said. And this dep{onent} alsoe saith that the said Manus mc Knogher and Doltagh mc Garvy did in this deponents heareing in a braging manner affirme and say, that they and the said Donne{ }

Donnell mc Ilbridy Neill o Donnell and Bryan reagh o ffarry did at the tyme aforesaid send for one John Adams them li ue <C> liueing neere Clondeierker aforesaid and would haue hanged him, but he strugling with him, they tooke theyre skeynes and stabbed him, And this deponent further sayeth not that he this deponent hath often afterwards seene the said Collonell mc Swine weepe and lament the murthering and killing of the sd Mr Akin his sones and servants aforesaid And more saith not.
