<(3)> The Examination of Turlogh Mc Gaughen taken before v s 6o May 1653 of the nere Coleraine Who saith that about 5 yeares past hee this Examinent with Bryan ô Leuerty Robert ô Cane, Rory o Cane, Turlogh o Mullon, Manus o Mallon Paterick o Denelin, Paterick O Quillen Paterick Mc Teere and one other whose name hee remembereth Not, being soldiers vnder the Command of Captaine <symbol> Shane Og O Neale then Gouernor of Charliamount were directed by him to attend the Moyry Pass, there to stop the passadge of the English, and to bring as many prissoners to him as they could, at which place, it happened that Dauid Boice, John Burden, Thomas Whiteby, and Art o Donnelly, comeing then from Dundalke, were after a hott scirmish with them taken prissoners by this Examinent and the rest of his company then Imployed to attend the said pass, and all they had taken from them. And saith that within an hower after, one Edmund Mc Cormick comeing from Dundalkeward on horseback, was likewise taken prissoner by the Examinent and Company, And that, that euening they discharged the said Art o Donnelly and John Burden vpon the vndertakeing of Daud Boice, and Thomas Whiteby, that their ransome should bee paid, as for themselues when made known what it should bee, which being done, and night drawing nere, they marched away to Charliamount that night, with the said Brice Whiteby and mc Carmick and presented them to their said Captaine, then Gouernor of Charliamount, who within three howers, after their comming thether, the said Captain Commanded that, the said Edmund Mc Carmick should bee presently hanged, which was accordingly done, and for the other two they continued prisoners there about fiue weekes or a month till they were ransomed by the money Paid to the said Captain O Neile.
