The examynacion of John Anthony late if Killicarty in the County of Catherlaugh taken before me Sir William Reeves knight one of the Justices of his Maiesties Court of cheife place concerning his greevance as followeth vizt 24 Decemb: 1641
<M> He ffirst deposeth That vppon that vppon the xxiijth day of Nouember last in the night tyme one Morris Bawne Turlo Bawne and Connor mc Garroll and some others did come to Clanmore Castle whether this Examynate had conveyed his goods for security and there did take away the same by force of armes and divided the same amongst them for ought this Deponent knowes. And the said one Turlo Bawne as he is informed is in possession of this Examynates dwelling howse Malt howse malt Corne & other goods which he had left behind.
He further deposeth That his wife having notice of the rysing out of the Irish in those parts did cause & indeavour to be brought from his said dwelling howse of Kilne Cartie the number of 100 head of cattell to Dublin but was intercepted in the bringing vp of the same by Cahir Bawnes sonnes & Edmund Birne of Portrushin and their Tenantes whoe haue possession of them amongst them.
<N> And this deponent further sayth That his wife comming towards Dublin the next day after tooke her way by Talbottes Towne where meeting with the sonne of Peter Wickhams sheriffe of the said Cownty he enformed her there were 4 of this Deponentes oxen with the Cattell of the said Peters desireing her to send for them away and at the same instant a brother of the said Peters named Marcus made answere that [ some] of the said Cattell were killed the night before & the rest driven away.
<O> He further deposeth That he having seuerall other Cattell and stolne and taken away he sent his servants to enquyre after the same who coming vppon parte of the said Peter Wickhams land were informed by one Donnohe O Water his servant of the said Peter Wickhams that the said Peter had in his Custody 12 of his Cowes and 12 mares and young stud which were his and branded with his marke

<P> He lastly deposeth That he hath had the number of 150 Cattell and Cowes oxen horses mares Colts and other Cattle ouer & aboue what is before expressed that as yett he cannot heare of. Soe as by the losse of his said goods Chattells and Cattells, Mael, Corne in stacke and growing on the ground on three farmes he had he is damnified to the losse of One Thowsand and Three Hundred pounds ster.
