The examinacion of Georg Allibond of Hacketstowne in the Baronie of Rathvillie and Countie of Catherlagh taken before mee Sir William Ryves knight one of the Justices of his Maiesties Court of cheefe place, concerneing his losse and greevance is as followeth vizt
Who beinge duly sworne & examined sayth
<Q> That hee this deponent haveing notice of the Rebellious insurrection of diveres of his neighboures in those partes, and being warned by one William ô Neale this deponentes servant to departe and secure himself, did vpon the xxijth daie of November 1641 carry all or the most part of the best of his goodes into the Castle of Hacketstowne in hope to have preserved them, Butt that very night Maurice Nolan, Tirlagh Birne & Coole mc Garrald Birne accompanied with the number of threescore others or <R> thereaboutes came to the said towne, and vnderstanding that this deponent and others of the his neighbors hadd putt theire goodes into the said Castle, did indeavour with axes and other ingens to have have broken the gate which was shutt against them; wherein failing most part of the said malefactors entred the said Castle over a stack or reeke of turfe, that was made against the said Castle; and haveing soe entred opened the gate and carryed awa{y} all the goodes this deponent hadd there.
Hee further deposeth That the next daie being the 23th of <S> November aforesaid hee this deponent brought from Hacketstow{ne} aforesaid the number of one hundred Cowes and heifers of 3 yeares ould with three bulls, with an intent to have preserv{ed} the same, and to have disposed thereof att Dublin, Butt in hi{s} way neere Baltinglas John Aspoll of the Tuckmill and one Maynewaring with many others made stay of this deponent and his said Cattle, whoe demaunding the reason of theire soe doeinge the said Aspoll answered that they must and would have the said Cattle for the Kinges service souldiers, and therevpon tooke and drove them away and tooke away alsoe the deponentes sword and pistoll; which being soe done they raised the Cry and the whole Cuntrie arrose and followed this examinant whoe by horse escaped them

Hee further deposeth That hee is crediblie informed <T> by his servantes (whome since his Comeing not to Dublin hee sent downe to make enquirie after his goodes) that the said Cattle soe taken from this deponent were devided and seene in the custodie of Sir Robert Talbott & the said Lod o wick Poutes John Aspoll and Lodowick Pouten
<V> And this deponent further saith That he is informed by his said servantes and other neighbours, That Edmond Birne of Portrishae, Brian mc Owen Birne of the same and Donogh mc Connell and others in theire <W> Companie carryed away all the goodes he this examinant hadd left in his howse, And hee further deposeth
That there were is detayned by the said William ô Neale, the number of ten mares and Coltes, ten Cowes and fiftie Calves, when hee this deponent brought away the said Cattle; which togeather with his swyne and other Cattle, are taken and kept away from him, soe as by the losses aforesaid, and his disbursementes in fines and improvement of his farmes hee is dampnified the sume of six hundred poundes at the least
