Memorandum that by the relacion of Nicholas Roberts of Ballycarty the examinant fflorence mc Carty exprest some fauor to the English after the Castle was yeilded vpp who when they were threatned & in danger of theire liues came & told them that he was but one man & that he know not what to doe for them & to giue them a Conuoy he thought it to be very dangerous. whereuppon he told them that they had best as he conceaued to buy a peere of brogaes a peece & see how the the brogues & the mountaynes wold agree meaneing to Escape thereby & soe the very next night after being snowy winter weather they went ouer the mountane & escaped all safe to the C as Newmarkett being twenty miles distant
Also by the relacion of Mr Dauerex Spratt Clerk it appeareth that Peirce fferitur did much fauor the English in many respects aboue all the Irish gentlemen in Keiry as vizt protecting many mens liues & goods & reliueing many poore protestants out of his own purss

And in giueing many fiue shill: a peece some halfe Crownes a peece & some less who was the man when the Castle of Tralee was taken who propounded to the rest of the Captains there that if they wold giue back to the Protestants one third part which they had in the Castle that he for his part wold giue them all his owne share which notwithstanding they denyinged he gaue much of the protestants goods back that fell to his share.
