The Examinacion of Edmund Dermott of Mohunta in the County of Roscomon gent, concerneing the Murther of Alexander ffrye taken the third day of May 1653 upon the behalfe of the Comon wealth
The said Examinante being duely sworne and examined vpon the holy Evangelist deposeth and saith that about the latter end of January 1641 [ ] A party of the Irish Rebells vnder the Command of Shane mc Munmore Rely and Shane Rely both of the [ ] parishe of Drumlagh in the County of Kauan gent came towards Croghan in the County of Kavan, and there mett with one Alexander ffrye an English man who was then murthered by the some of the said party of Irish as this Deponent hath credibly heard & verily beleiueth, the cause of this Deponents knowledge is that he then liued at a place called terrintenny in the county of Kauan within two or three miles of Croghan, and th often times sawe the said two Relyes at the Campe neere & at the towne where this Deponent liued as aforesaid and heard diuers of the said party confesse that the said Alexander ffry was Killed by that party and to this Deponents best remembrance he hath heard the said John mc Shane mc Munmore Rely & Shane Rely confesse that the said ffrye was killed by their party. And this examinante saith that he made the more diligent inquiry after the said ffrye because he was a man that this examinante very well loued and had endeauoured much to preserue And further saith not
