Whoe beeing sworne and Examined sayth, that h{is} Coll: Collonnell Venables, willed him to give him a list of the Activest Rebells of the County of Downe and Monoghan, and that hee this deponent would enquire of what their Carriadge was, in relacion to Murders Comitted in those Countyes. Wherevpon this deponett gaue in the names of Ardell MacMaughowne, Torlough MacQuin o Neile Patricke macLaughlin MacMaughowne, Rory Booye macMaughowne, Hugh MacRory MacMaughowne, nowe in Dundalke prison, And also the Names of Ardell Redy MacMaughowne, & Bryane MacHary bane Birne, which two were lately hanged at Dundalk And for any evidence against the said 5 persons in prison hee hath nothinge to say nor doth hee knowe any that cann give evidence against them, for any Murders./ onely sayth that the Common reporte, was that they were very active men of the Irishe party:/
