The Examinacion of Capten Thomas Clark of Castletowne Kooly Taken the 18th of Janu: 1652 Concerning John Babe
<Bis>Whoe being sworne and examined deposeth as followeth (vizt)
That he knoweth John Babe and hath knowne <[ ]> him neare Twenty yeares past,
hee likewise deposeth that the former Examinant Art ô Boyle did tell this Examinant that the said John Babe about the begining of the Rebellion did come to the said Art ô Boyles house, and demanded for the person of one h ugh Cooper father in Law to the said Art o Boyle Hugh Cooper and would haue taken him out of the house to haue putt him to death, And he further deposeth that the said John Babe told this Examinant that Sir Phelim ô Neale had sent him a warrant to putt the English in those parts to Death, and had sent likewise a preist to see the warrant executed But being asked the question whether Babe did Confess to him that hee putt any to death by vertue of the said warrant, hee answered that the said Babe had sayth he did not, And the Examinant further sayth that hee di hath not he ard that the said Babe did { } putt any of the English to death since the Rebellion, And further he sayth not,

And the Examinant being asked the question whether he knew or heard whether that the said Babe had putt any of the English nation to Death, hee Answered he knew not nor hath heard of any, But hath heard, (but from whom he rememberth not) that the said Babe hath at the begining of the Rebellion putt some of the English to death, And further sayth not
