The examinacion of Simon Hasleton of Carranbane in Kilwarlin in Com: Downe aged eight & twenty or thereabouts taken at Lisnegaruy 3 May 1653
Who saith that he liued in Charlemount at the begining of the Rebellion & then was workeing in a Tan house there & heareing a great cry came out & saw Edm: mc <A> Quoid Brian mc Quoid & William mc Gneise & another man whome this examinant knowes not wer carieing Robert Bickerdike & his man wife vnto the black water close adioyning vnto the Tanhouse where they said pers o were drowned by them. And this examinant further saith that he being compelled afterwards to sta serue with the Irish at Charlemount I he was standing as a Sentinell at the towne end of Charlemount where he saw the said Edm: & Brian mc Quoid lead forth of out of the towne Tho: Dauis & Mary his wife vnto a ditch in which they putt them & there stabbed them both. And further saith not.
