Wee whose names are heere vnderwriten Doeth by these presents, humbly Certifie to all whom it may concerne that widowe Cuminge aleis Marien Tate Did declare before vs at Downe the 16th of May 1653 And therevpo{n} toke a booke in herr hand, And tooke heer volentarie oath
That shee was in the church of Baly, when Art o Neil{e} Neile brother to Mr Brian o Neile Cam thither to the said church in a murtheringe way And murthered one John Miller in his house within a pistoll shot of the church afore the said neale and his Confederats cam to the said church William Cuminge elder Charles Cuminge william Cuminge younger John Carsan Thomas mc Burney and william Maxwell beeinge then in the church aforesaid, a purpose to saue theire Lives from the vnhuman masaker of the Rebels, And that Art o Neile cam to the church doore And flunge stones at it And seeinge hee could not prevaile with stones caused sett fier to the doore of the churche And in the midst of that hott Dispute, the Aforesaid Arte o Neile Called vppon william Cuminge Elder and said that the said Cuminge [hat] had don him a curtesie before and that hee the said neale would doe the Lyke to him nowe wherevpon then Cuminge Answeared and said what curtesie is it that you will doe to mee, then neale said that if hee would com out of the church hee would save all theire Lives and that one Drop of theire bloods should not be drawen, wherevpon the said neale and Cuminge Joyned hands through the doore, but as soone as the said neale gott into the church hee caused take the men aforementioned and flightered there hands beheinde their baks and then tyed two and twoe together and carried them a waye and was murthered the next day afterwards And the said widowe Cuminge said that if shee were able to goe to Carikfergus either on futt or horsbake she would com and depose the same before the Lord president of the high Court of Justice, All this wee humbly Certifie, And shalbee redie to depose the same whensoev{er} occation shall soebe witnes our hands this 16th of Maye 1653
