The Examination of John Litle of Ballywillem aged about thirtie yeeres taken the 20: May: 1653
Who being dewly sworne sayeth that in the first yeere of the Rebellion he this Examinat went along from Killeleah to Faninbrog with John Iruine and with the mother of the sayd Iruin and his sister and two men, whom they had hyred to thresh out their corne which they had in that place att Faninbrog And that after they had threshed the corne and were comming homewards being gett neere unto the barne He this examinat saw some Irishes to the number of three score (to the best of this examinats knowledge) and [ ] this examinat with the rest of the company beganne to flye
This Examinat being asked if he knew any of the sayd Irish men he sayeth he knew none of them. But that he saw some of them following hard after them, and that they first ouertooke the two woemen, and then the two men the threshers. And this Examinat with John Iruin (they hauing horses) escaped and came to Killeleah
This Examinat further sayeth that the next that the next morning the lord Clane boye sent out some of his troope uery early with whom this Examinat went out also; And sayeth that being come within half a mile of faninbreg, they found two men [ ] lying killed hauing dyuers wound and slashes on their [ face ] body. That this Examinat look upon the corps and knew them to be the two men that had threshed their corne the day before. And this Examinat sayeth that a little after that they he this Examinat and the rest of the troopers that came from Killeleah, did finde the two woemen killed and cast into the water amongst the flitches and mud. And that they knew them to be haue been the mother and sister of the sayd John Iruin
