The Examinacon of William Gillis of Ballynumford in the Iland of Magee in the Countie of Antrym husbandman aged neere fortie yeare being examined saith
That in the begining of the Rebellion in this Nation hee lived in the Iland aforesaid: & was never vnder Command as a Souldier & being demaunded whether hee did know any of the Magees then liveing in the Iland aforesaid, saith that there were seuerall of that Name liveing in the Iland, but hee knew {} them not. & being further questioned, answeareth tha{t he} did know Daniell Arte Magee: that then lived {} halfe a Myle distant from this Examinante & being {} demaunded whether hee did know any other of that {}answeareth that hee did know Ever Magee: & be{ing} asked whether hee knew, what was become of Danell { } Magee or his ffamilie, saith that hee doth not & after being demaunded, whether hee doth know any thinge concerneing the death of Ever Magee aforesaid, saith that hee was killed with the Rest. & being further asked what is the cause of his knowledge thereof saith that it was reported vnto him. But by whom hee knoweth not & being further questione what hee knoweth any thing concerning the death of Daniell Arte Magee or whether hee dyed an ordinari e Naturall death or whether hee was Slayne. Hee answeareth hee knoweth not & that hee the Examinante: Blessed God hee was noe such man meaneing as hee explayned himselfe to wrong any.) And being likewise demaunded whether of hee was in the house of Daniell Arte Magee in the first yeare of the Rebellion saith that hee knoweth not whether hee was or, noe & further saith being asked where hee was, when the Murther was Comitted on the foresaid Daniell Arte Magee & Ever Magee & the rest of the Irish there saith that hee was about his owne house: And further saith not
