The Examination of Turlogh McGwill some times Tanderagee in the County of Ardmagh Adged 33 yeares or thereabouts taken before Edward Conway, and Roger Lyndon Esquire at Carrickfergus the 5th day of May 1{653}
Who habeing sworne, and examined saith, that in or about Ja{nuary} 1642 this Examinent with Lieutenant Collonell Aughy O Henlon and others were appointed by Sir Phillemy O Neale, vpon the request o{f} Mrs St Johns, then wife of Capten St. Johns, to convoy her, and {} Charles Perkins, Mr Draiton Minister of Tanderagree wi{th} others in their Company, from Tanderagee to Lisnegaruy, a{nd} they being come as farr as Mullacartan in Killvlta, there they mett Toole O Neale, and Toole McRory McCan, who command{ed} three companyes in that place, whereof one Company belonged {to}Phillime Duff McCormick O Neile, who was then at home,for {that} hee was lately before, burnt in some parte of his body with gunpo{wder} And the said Toole รด Neill and Toole McRory McCan, meeteing the said parties and Convoy, comming to them, The said Toole O Neile and Toole McRory McCan did violently take away from the said Convoy the said Charles Perkins, & Mr Drayton, a [ ] man then adged about sixty yeares, pretending to keepe them for Exchange of Prissoners of their party, alleadged by them to bee in the English Quarters But immediately after in this Examinents sight, they the said Toole O Neile and Toole McRory mcCann, caused the said Mr Draiton to bee shott to death, and afterwards carried away with them, the said Charles Perkins, And as this Examinent was Creddibly informed and heard it generally affirmed at the Newry in Killulta, and other parts of the Country, that the said Charles Perkins, was about fiue weekes after, hanged, by the said Toole O Neile; and farther saith not.
