The Examinacion of Owen Magee of Castlechichester in Iland Magee in the County of Antryme, Gentleman: aged 33 yeares or thereabouts who beinge duly sworne before vs this 31th of May 1653
Saith that hee was not in Iland Magee when the murther was Comitted neither doth hee knowe any thinge of the generall murther savinge that about eight dayes after this examinates mother whose name was Jinnett ny mcStarlin was murthered by one Thomas Russell of Balleymenagh about ten perch distant from the house of John Marshall as this Examinate hath bin credibly Informed by Hugh Donneldsone and John Kennedy, and that she came to the said Hugh Donneldsone that morninge & gaue him her keyes beinge in feare of her life att which tyme the said Donneldsone could scarse saue her from the violence and rage of the said Russell And beinge demanded what he knoweth concerninge the Murther of those persons that escaped from the Iland to this Towne of Carrickfergus, saith that hee knoweth not any thinge savinge that hee sawe them in the Towne, & that they and the rest of the irish were forced to shelter themselues in houses and that they were taken out & murthered but how or by whom he cannot Declare, and further saith not, onley further sayth that Andrew Magee of Killwarlin cann speake to the generall Murder of Ileland Magee for that the sayd Andrew was then there and sawe some of the Murders comitted ./
