The examinacion of Allexander McOwen of Cloghanduffe in the Countie of Antrim husbandman adged 58 yeares or thereabouts being duely sworne & examined deposeth & by virtue of his oath saith
That about 20 dayes before Candlemas in the yeare 1641 this examminate lived att Cloghanduffe aforesaid were within one quarter of a Myle of Templepatrick in the Countie of Antrym & then being a Souldier vnder the Command of Capten Henrie Vpton hee was in the Castle caled Castle Norton which was then Mand & Commaunded by the said Capten Vpton, & heareing that there was a Murther Comitted in this Examinate house in Cloghanduffe aforesaid, this deponent therevppon repayred to his said house & on his entring therevnto the Corps of William Magucayne & of Marie his wife were a carrying forth of the said house on a Barroe one after thother to bee burryed which were soe buryed neere neere this examminate house. And the said examminate being demmaunded whether or noe hee knoweth who Murthered the said persons saith that hee was Crediblie informed, by one Jennett McCollagh, James Dunsheeth & Thomas Dunsheeth that the said Murther was Comitted by James Morrison, & Alexander Gourdon two Troopers which then were vnder the Commaund of Capten Lindsey & saith that the said James & Thomas Dunsheeth were the parties that carryed the Corps to bee buryed as aforesaid: And this deponent crediblie beleeveth that the said Murther was Comitted by the said James Morrison & Roger Alexander Gourdon for that hee this Examinate found in theire possession a workeing Gelding which was of this Examminates Goods in the Templepatricke aforesaid. And further saith not.
