The Examinacion of Andrew McOwen of Cloghanduffe in the Countie of Antrym yeoman adged 22 yeares or thereabouts being sworne & examined by virtue of his oath saith
That betweene Christmas & Candlemas in the yeare 1641 hee being in his this deponents ffathers bar Barne att Cloghanduffe aforesaid hee did see two Troopers entring into his said ffathers house & then there being not any therein as this Examinate remembreth but one William Magucane & Marie his wife who repayred thither about 3 or or fower dayes before; for theire preservacion & saftie, as this depo Examinate heard from the furie & violence of the Scotts, who then were murtheringe many of the Irish in those partes. And saith that a tt the tyme the said Troopers entred into the said house the said William Magucane & Marie his wife were liveing & presently after theire entrance thereinto, hee heard a sobb or Crie in the house att which tyme this examinate thinketh thought or feared that they were killing the said William & his wife & not long after hee saw the Corps of the said William & Marie caryed out of the said house on a Barroe, And further this Examinate saith that hee saw the said Troopers Leadeinge away the a G workeing Gelding belonging to this depo Examinats ffather. & saith that hee crediblie heard that the said Troops were caled James Morrison & one Gordan belonging to Capten Lindsey his Troope att that tyme: And further deposeth not.
