James Carrell of Lurgan in the County of Armagh duely sworne and examined this 19th of May 1653 deposeth and sayth
That he the sayd Examinat being at Mountjoy the beginninge of this rebellion, observed that about that time vizt 8bris, 23 1643, One Turlogh Groome Ô Quin with diverse others came into the sayd Towne <C> of Mountjoy, and alledged that there was a prey of Cattle taken from the sayd Turlogh Groom ô Quin, And that they pursued their track vnto the sayd Towne, wherevpon admittance was graunted vnto them to make search after the same, And this deponent being on the Lower end of the sayd Mountjoy and one of the old Soldiers there, was infor credibly informed (as by sad experience he immediatly found) to be too true that the sayd Turlogh { } Groome ô Quin, with his crue had seized vpon and surprized the sayd Castle of Mountjoy, And had taken all the old souldiers (whereof this deponent was one) as prisoners
